Zero Waste
KA220-SCH – Cooperation partnerships in school education
Food waste is not only an ethical and economic problem, it also depletes the environment’s limited natural resources. The best way to prevent food waste is to educate, inspire and encourage the public, and especially the younger generation, to take action.
The main objective of the Zero Waste project is to ensure that school teachers are informed and educated, through useful training material, about the social, environmental and economic consequences of food waste and the best practices to reduce it. Teachers will have the possibility to include the food waste training material in their classroom to raise awareness and pass on the knowledge to their pupils.
The ultimate goal of this project is for both teachers and pupils (and consequently their families) to act as transmitters of a new way of life based on cyclical economy, proper management of daily food consumption and elimination of food waste under the motto “use wisely, reduce, recycle”.
The partnership is composed of Ireland, Portugal, Spain and Romania.
