An event to share tools for motivation and well-being in the workplace

On July 3, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., we held our event on well-being, values, and motivation at work at the CEOE Aragón (Spanish Confederation of Business Organizations) headquarters in Zaragoza. The conference brought together professionals from different sectors in a participatory and friendly atmosphere, where they shared strategies and experiences to promote mental health and motivation in teams.

The session began with an exercise to connect with personal and professional motivation, allowing attendees to reflect and share concerns about their own values and goals. This was followed by a presentation of best practices from the European projects StayOK and STAYCONNECTED, providing useful resources and concrete examples applicable to different work environments.

One of the most highly valued moments was the talk by Antonio Ara Goñi, Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (CPCC), Health Psychologist (UNED) and Industrial Engineer (CPS), who offered an enriching insight into personal and professional development, inviting those present to explore new ways of growth and well-being at work.

The meeting concluded with coffee and a networking session, where participants were able to exchange impressions and establish new professional contacts in a relaxed atmosphere. The organizers would like to emphasize that it was a real pleasure to share this space for learning and dialogue, and we sincerely appreciate the involvement and interest of all those who attended.

We encourage those who wish to learn more about the topics discussed to visit the StayOK and STAYCONNECTED project websites, and we look forward to seeing you again at future initiatives dedicated to well-being and motivation in the workplace.

SOULFood opens doors for migrant and refugee women through culinary empowerment.

At GEINNOVA, we believe in the power of education, culture, and creativity to open new doors. Through the SOULFood project, we’ve embraced the opportunity to support migrant and refugee women in Zaragoza by giving visibility to their culinary heritage and creating real opportunities for growth and connection.

In early June, our team joined the rest of the SOULFood project partners in Malmö, Sweden to reflect on everything we’ve achieved so far and to plan the next phase of the project.

After successful series of cooking activities in each country, we focused on developing an online training course that will offer:

-Practical culinary training

-Soft skills development

-Cultural reflection

Tools for employability in the food sector

Our commitment is to ensure these resources are inclusive, accessible, and relevant to the real needs of migrant women seeking a better future in Europe.

In recent months, GEINNOVA organised three hands-on cooking workshops, each celebrating a different cultural tradition and held in collaboration with local organisations:

-Italian cuisine, a familiar favorite that offered a space for cross-cultural connection and professional learning, was held at SSVP (Sociedad de San Vicente de Paúl Zaragoza), who kindly offered their  space and helped us reach the participating women.

-Asian cuisine, featuring vibrant flavors and techniques from various east and southeast asian countries, took place at the Centro Joaquín Roncal Fundación CAI, a welcoming space where creativity and learning flourished.

-Turkish cuisine, highlighting dishes rich in spices, stories, and shared rituals, was also hosted at Centro Joaquín Roncal, allowing participants to connect over tradition and taste.

These sessions were about much more than food. They became moments of storytelling, skill-sharing, and solidarity, where women from different backgrounds came together to cook, learn, and be seen.

Each workshop ended with a communal tasting session, involving local guests and community members creating opportunities for intercultural dialogue, mutual appreciation, and social inclusion.

Our work would not have been possible without the support of key local organizations in Zaragoza like SSVP and Fundación CAI, who helped us reach migrant women and graciously provided their kitchen space for one of our sessions. Thanks to this kind of collaboration, we were able to hold workshops in a warm and welcoming environment. These collaborations were essential to making our activities meaningful and accessible.

By working with trusted local partners, we can reach the right people, build trust, and create long-lasting impact in the communities we serve. We are proud to be strengthening these connections, and we’re excited to continue working hand in hand with local actors who believe in inclusion, empowerment, and opportunity for all.

Through the SOULFood project, we’ve seen how something as simple and powerful  as cooking can spark joy, confidence, and connection. At GEINNOVA, we’re proud to be part of this journey.

We are excited to continue creating spaces where women can be seen, valued, and empowered. And we can’t wait to welcome them into the next chapter: a digital training journey where tradition meets opportunity.

Geinnova promotes the digital transformation of tourism in the Calatayud region with a key study for the PSTD

At Geinnova, we are proud to announce our participation in the Tourism Sustainability Plan for the Calatayud Region (PSTD), a strategic initiative funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU and coordinated by the Government of Aragon and the regional administration. Our work has focused on carrying out the preliminary study for the Tourism Marketing Plan, a fundamental part of Axis 3 of the plan: the digital transition of the destination. This axis includes the creation of a tourism intelligence system, the improvement of the destination’s website, and the development of digital tools for tourism management and promotion.

A study to understand, segment, and promote regional tourism.

The work carried out by Geinnova has consisted of an in-depth analysis of the level of knowledge and perception of the tourist resources of the Calatayud region in the target markets, both nationally and internationally. To this end, we have carried out:

Surveys and perception studies in selected markets, with a special emphasis on field data collection, which has given us a real and up-to-date view of visitor trends and demands.

Analysis of the region’s presence and mentions in the media, social networks, and tourism platforms.

Comparisons of the region’s positioning vis-à-vis competing destinations, identifying strengths and areas for improvement.

Segmentation and selection of target markets.

Our study has enabled us to define and prioritize the most relevant tourist markets for promoting the region, applying geographical, demographic, and psychographic criteria. In addition, we have identified the market segments with the greatest affinity for the local tourist offer and analyzed the potential of both domestic and international source markets.

Inventory and evaluation of local tourist resources

Another key task has been to draw up a detailed inventory of the region’s tourist resources—historical monuments, natural heritage, cultural events, and gastronomy—evaluating their quality and capacity to meet tourist demand. This analysis has identified key resources with high potential to attract the target markets.

Geinnova’s collaboration with the Calatayud region is part of several areas of the PSTD, acting as a link between companies in the tourism sector and the public administration. Our goal has been to facilitate strategic decision-making and promote partnerships that drive competitiveness and innovation in the region, in line with the vision of sustainability and digital transformation that defines the plan.

At Geinnova, we remain committed to innovation and sustainable development, helping the Calatayud region to consolidate its position as a leading tourist destination that is modern and connected to the new demands of the sector.

Further information: If you would like to know more, we invite you to consult a brief summary of the study carried out, as well as the official website of the Tourism Sustainability Plan for the Calatayud Region.

Strengthening the Future of Art & Innovation: School Art Competition in Türkiye

On 25th April through 27th April 2025, we had the privilege of attending the International Art Festival in Antalya, Türkiye, a remarkable event that brought together young artists from diverse backgrounds to showcase their creativity and talent. With 54 participating schools from across Türkiye, the festival provided students an opportunity to present original works in various categories, including painting, STEM+Art, digital arts, caricature, anime character design, and collage art. We engaged with the students, observing their creative processes, discussing inspirations behind their works, and witnessing firsthand the dedication each young artist poured into their craft.

Serving as members of the jury panel, Carlos Franco and Naomi Nervo with the academic council evaluated the exhibited artworks alongside an academic committee from various universities in Türkiye composed of experts in art, technology, and design. The selection process was based on originality, technical skill, and the ability to convey compelling artistic narratives. The sheer diversity of perspectives reflected in the students’ work highlighted the significance of interdisciplinary art education and its role in fostering critical thinking and self-confidence.

Following the evaluation, the top-ranking students earned the opportunity to present their works at an international exhibition in Zaragoza, Spain. This prestigious platform will allow young artists to gain visibility beyond their local communities, connect with global audiences, and refine their artistic vision through cultural exchange.

In conclusion, the festival served as an invaluable meeting point for artistic collaboration, personal growth, and creative empowerment. GEINNOVA’s participation reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing young talent, encouraging innovative thinking, and supporting the next generation of artists and changemakers.

The visit to Türkiye was more than a journey—it was a testament to the power of art in shaping global perspectives, driving creativity, and inspiring young minds to pursue their dreams with confidence. As GEINNOVA continues its mission, this remarkable experience will serve as a catalyst for future projects that uplift artistic expression and education worldwide. We eagerly anticipate reconvening in Zaragoza as we actively prepare for the final exhibition.

Flavors that unite: how cooking is transforming lives with SOULfood

What if cooking could open doors, build bridges, and transform communities? That’s what SOULfood is all about, a European project that turns every recipe into an opportunity for the social inclusion of migrant women. Through flavorful cooking workshops, shared stories, and experiences that leave a lasting impression, SOULfood shows that cooking is much more than just preparing food: it’s a universal language of connection, learning, and empowerment.

One of the most important activities within this initiative has been the organization of cooking workshops. Here in Zaragoza, we hosted three workshops between January and February 2025, each focusing on a different type of cuisine: Italian, Asian, and Turkish. In total, around 50 participants took part in these events, learning how to cook new dishes, sharing stories, and connecting with people from all over the world.

Each workshop offered a unique cultural and culinary experience in a welcoming, peer-to-peer environment. Rather than formal cooking lessons, these sessions were moments of mutual exchange, guided by workshop leaders who are themselves migrants and brought their personal stories and heritage into the kitchen. During the Italian cooking session, participants prepared a traditional dish of gnocchi alla sorrentina, inspired by the experience and passion of an Italian facilitator. The second workshop focused on Asian cuisine and featured a Chinese-style vegetable stir-fry, shared by a Spanish participant who had lived in China for several years and offered insights from his time abroad. The final session celebrated Turkish cuisine through the preparation of potato and bulgur patties—a traditional family recipe from Antiochia—generously shared by our Turkish workshop leader. These sessions fostered connection, learning, and inclusion in an open and horizontal way.

The workshops were a great success. We collaborated with the Sociedad de San Vicente de Paúl (SSVP), who kindly provided their kitchen space for the Italian cooking session, and with Fundación CAI, who hosted the Asian and Turkish sessions.

Beyond the recipes and techniques, what truly stood out was the human connection. Participants not only learned how to cook—they also built bridges between cultures, found common ground through food, and formed lasting friendships beyond the workshops. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, filled with laughter, curiosity, and shared experiences.

One participant shared her reflection after the final session:
“The event was so interesting and I met people from different nationalities. I’ll be happy if you have more events like this that help us become familiar with different cultures and their food. Thank you so much!”
Her words reflect the spirit of SOULfood—an initiative that uses the joy of cooking to foster community, understanding, and empowerment.

Strengthening the future of family businesses in Europe

Family businesses are the backbone of Europe’s economy, playing a vital role in job creation, innovation, and regional development. However, ensuring their continuity across generations presents unique challenges that require strategic planning and support. Recognizing the importance of these businesses, GEINNOVA has taken an active role in fostering dialogue and collaboration by organizing a Discussion Group on Family Businesses as part of the European project NextSMEs, funded by the Erasmus+ program.

A Space for Dialogue and Learning

Hosted at CEOE Aragón, this gathering brought together a diverse group of stakeholders, including family business owners, public administration representatives, and industry experts. The goal? To engage in an open and constructive discussion about the key factors that help with business continuity planning for the long-term sustainability of family-run enterprises.

The meeting served as a platform for participants to exchange experiences, share best practices, and explore actionable strategies to enhance the resilience of family businesses. By fostering collaboration between the private and public sectors, this initiative aims to create a stronger support system for these companies, ensuring their stability and growth in an ever-changing economic landscape.

Key Topics Addressed

Succession and generational handover – One of the most pressing challenges for family businesses is ensuring a smooth transition from one generation to the next. Effective succession planning is crucial not only for business continuity but also for preserving the company’s values, vision, and long-term success. The discussion emphasized the importance of preparing future leaders, establishing clear succession strategies, and balancing family interests with business needs.

Professionalization and decision-making – As family businesses grow, professionalizing management processes becomes essential for efficiency and sustainability. Like how Implementing business governance best practices helps maintain efficiency in decision-making, participants explored how structured governance, external expertise, and data-driven decision-making can enhance long-term stability while maintaining the unique identity and culture of family-owned enterprises.

Tools and public policies for growth and financial stability for SMEs

Governments and institutions play a key role in supporting family businesses through policies and funding opportunities. The discussion highlighted various financial instruments, legal frameworks, and advisory programs available to help these companies navigate challenges, scale their operations, and remain competitive in an increasingly globalized market.

A Collaborative Effort for a Sustainable Future

With the participation of 10 family business owners and representatives from public administrations, this forum provided a valuable opportunity to identify industry needs, exchange insights, and co-create strategies that can strengthen the future of family businesses across Europe. The insights gathered during the event will contribute to the development of new tools and initiatives within the NextSMEs project, further reinforcing support structures for small and medium-sized family enterprises.

At GEINNOVA, we believe that innovation and sustainable business development are key drivers of economic business growth. Through projects like NextSMEs, we remain committed to empowering family businesses by equipping them with the resources, knowledge, and networks needed to thrive in the modern economy.
